AutoUpgrade SEP Client 12.1.6 and Windows 8.1 problem

I recently upgraded our SEPM from 12.1.4 to 12.1.6 and just created a test group to upgrade my machine from 12.1.5 to 12.1.6. I added the 12.1.6 package to the Install packages tab of the group, placed my machine in the group, updated my policy,  and version 12.1.6 was downloaded, installed and prompted me to reboot.  My laptop has now been in the reboot for over 30 minutes stuck on a spinning wheel or commonly known as the Windows splash screen.  What is going on? Is it the Early launch malware driver doing a full scan or something?

Had no problems with 12.1.5 client for the past few months.
