Hello,
I'd like to prevent smartphones to be used on a PC to get connected to the Internet.
I've found the way to create a custom network adapter (not a device) as a policy components and to put it into a blocking rule into a firewall policy.
It works properly.
Unfortunately, when I plug another smartphone on the PC, Windows creates a new instance for the network adapter by adding " #2" at the end of the name.
For instance, for Android devices, the first network adapter is named "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device" and further adapters are named "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device #2", "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device #3" and so on.
So, I seem to need to create in SEPM as many network adapters as smartphones will be plugged on the machine and put them in my blocking rule !
According to this HOWTO (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO81219), the adaptater identification is case sensitive.
Is there a way to create only one network adapter, with wildcards for instance in order to simplify the rules and the administration ?
Thanks for your answers.
