I have a windows server 2008 run BACS (Broadcom NIC driver). Before I install SEP Client 12.1.x, my computer worked normally with NIC teaming mode LACP ( 2 NIC card of server connect to 2 port of a Cisco Switch run LACP mode). But after installed the NIC teaming not work, show on Cisco switch the port is up but port protocol is down. Does the SEP Client prevent LACP Protocol on NIC Teaming mode? Can you have any solution for my problem? thank you very much!

I need a solution

I am trying to find some place that will tell which type of SEP 14 client is installed any given computer. Every client view displays, at most, the client version and policy serial number. Similarly, I have not found a report that lists the client type. The only place I've found the information is an individual client's properties, which is not very useful.

I have to think I'm missing somethihng; I'd really appreciate someone telling me what it is.

Hi,

I have SEPM 12.1.6 (RU6) - 12.1.6168.6000 with clients of different versions (like 12.1 RU6 MP8, MP4 etc) I want to upgrade SEPM to 12.16. (RU6 - MP8) 12.1.7266.6800.

My questions are what precautions (other than backup the database) should consider before to make an inplace upgrade.

1. Do I need to withdraw policies - if not, after upgrade will the policies be intact?

2. What about the groups?

3. Do I need to backup server private key?

4. How can I prevent restarting of SEPM PC after the upgrade?

5. If (worst case) upgrade failed then, how can I restore SEPM to the one before to the upgrade?

Hi,

do you guys know if it is possible to install SEP 14 for MAC without any network components?

It seems that the client has the same issues as the Windows client with high network throughput. (https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-14-and...)

Disabling the Intrusion Prevention from the SEPM policy or from the client does not affect the throughput, I guess the driver is still there and the traffic goes thru it. Right after uninstalling the client the network speeds go up to expected levels.

My question is that how to create single firewall rule for LAN/WAN for many site

suppose i have more than 50 remote sites and each site has different subnet and firewall rule later on we add a new firewall rule which should be added in existing firewall rules on all remote LAN/WAN site. Is it possible to create a rule which only added in existing firewall rules do not remove old rules

i dont wana go to each firewall group LAN/WAN and modify the firewall policy, i just add only default groups firewall policy and it automatically push to all LAN/WAN firewall policy

I need a solution

After rolling out the 14.0.2415 update on our clients, one machine (Win7 Pro 64Bit) lost the complete network connection (the adapters show up in the network panel but don't connect). I then tried to uninstall the SEP client on the machine but ended up with a destroyed installation (some parts, eg services, still active, no GUI function any more...). Aftre this I tried to use the CleanWipe Tool (v2415) - it starts all right, stops the services, states a neccessary reboot. After rebooting the machine, the tool comes up again, just to crash right after the CleanWipe window opens. I also tried to reinstall the client via the already deployed package. It looks good until about 3/4 of the installation process, when it starts to rollback the installation process. It then states, that the package couldn't be installed and that nothing was changed.

Any suggestions (besides a clean OS installation) how I can get rid of the SEP client on this machine to start a new installation (with disabled firewall components, as I learned now *g*)?

Hi all,

I'm currently testing a new 2012 R2 hypervisor with two 2012 R2 VMs before putting it into a podcution

and noticed that when running a restore job on the 2012 R2 file server VM I get E00084F9 error code.

However if I disable the SEP 12.1.6 installed on that VM the restore job goes through.

Are there any exceptions that I need to create in the SEP firewall for the BE16 restore jobs?

The backup jobs are running fine with the SEP active on both hyeprvisor and the VMs.

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

SEPM Upgrading from 12.1.6 to 12.1. RU6 MP8 - after taking the Database backup and stopping the SEPM manager.

While on the upgrade process screen stuck at stopping services, and then after ''installer no longer responding'' - retry - still the same stopping service status.

What could be the trouble?

Cancel the setup or try the force restart (or then manual restart after the installer no longer responding screen)

I forgot my admin console password.When i click on forgot your password? option for temporary password it is saying "password reset email was sent to the email address assoiciated with the account that you specified.".But i didn't get the mail.When i open the mail.config file by using notepad there is no content in that file(empty).I have added these lines and saved that file.Oncen again i click on the forgot your password? again it is showing same("password reset email was sent to the email address assoiciated with the account that you specified.").But i didn't get the mail.Once i click on the forgot your password? the file is showing empty(mail.confile file).

Hi dears,

last week we upgraded our Symantec management console from RU6 MP5 to MP8 and everything looked good since this morning we've got high CPU utilization on one of oue SEPM server. Actually we have two SEPM servers with one database and both of them are upgraded to MP8 and their AV agents as well.

Anyway after some research I change the communication settings of all the groups to Pull mode and now CPU utilization has been decreased from 100% to (20~60)% which still is not good as other SEPM server.

Hi all,

When i login to my console (14.0 MP2), I can see a certain number showing in the out-of-date status. Yet when i click on Out-Of-Date the box displays more servers in the list than the number suggests.

Its not a major issue, its just confusing sometimes. When on the home tab i've click refresh, and selected the Out-Of-Date again and the amount of servers displayed still differ to the number that shows in the home status page.

Other statuses seem to be accurate.

This is running on Server 2008 R2
